Troy Nathan
Troy is Ngāpuhi, from Aotearoa New Zealand. He knows the impact a haka has when it is performed, and has spent more than a decade bringing groups together through Māori culture and values.
Team Haka grew from a simple belief: the haka can unite any group of people facing a challenge together, including the people you work with. Since then Troy has taken it to teams in 15 countries, from country estates in Ireland to meeting rooms in Sri Lanka.
Questions planners ask
Does everyone have to perform?
Nobody is put on the spot. Everyone takes part at their own level: every movement has a gentler or seated version, and people can join through the words and the voice alone. Quieter people are often the ones who surprise themselves most.
How many people can take part?
Sessions suit groups of 20 to 200. The Call works as an opener for larger conference audiences.
How much space do we need?
Indoors or outdoors, rain or shine. You need enough clear floor for your group to stand in rows at arm’s length: a ballroom, a conference room with tables pushed back, a marquee or a lawn. For larger groups we use a microphone and speaker, and we confirm the details on our first call.
Do you travel to us?
Yes. We come to your venue, anywhere in the world. Travel and accommodation are shown as a clear, separate line in your quote, agreed before you book, so there are no surprises.
Is it respectful to the culture?
Yes. Team Haka is Māori-led: founder Troy Nathan is Ngāpuhi. Every session begins with the meaning of haka and its place in Māori culture, and it is taught with care.
How far ahead should we book?
Ideally six to eight weeks ahead, especially for travel. January and February kick-off season and summer offsites book up first. Shorter notice? Ask anyway, and we’ll do our best.
